Colorful Colorado and beyond…
I got my November issue of Whole Living in the mail today. Inside is an article titled “Destination | Rejuvenation”. Although the article is about a resort that caters to your mind and body in Mexico called Playa Viva, what really got my attention was the opening paragraph:
According to the Framingham Heart Study, women who rarely took vacations had an eight-fold increased risk of heart disease; the more time off you take, the less likely you are to be tense, depressed, or dissatisfied with your marriage…
Uh-um. So, book that trip you have been dreaming of. It’s for your health, after all.
According to the article, it’s not enough to “take a trip”, you must check-out, relax and rejuvenate to get the full benefits of your vacation. If you are lounging on a beautiful beach in Mexico but have your iPhone attached at your hip, checking your email…what’s the point?
In other words, your email can wait but the sunset will not.
Îles de la Madeleine, Canada…on my to-see list before I die. It’s a five-hour ferry ride from Prince Edward Island, Québec but thankfully you can also fly to the island in 1-4 hours, depending on the airport you fly from.
I would stay here: La Maison de Falaises Bed & Breakfast. I wonder if planning and dreaming of a vacation has any health benefits?
What is on your must-see travel list?
