Road Trip: Kit Carson County Carousel | Colorado I-70

Just on the eastern edge of Colorado, before you cross the border into Kansas (or just after your leave Kansas, depending on the direction you are driving) is a little town called Burlington.

There isn’t even a Walmart to warrant a stop to refuel with beef jerky and a Dr. Pepper, which is essential to any good road trip. That’s okay. You can save the calories and take a short detour into town to the Kit Carson County Carousel.

For a mere 25¢ you can delight your children, or your kid-at-heart, with a whirl on a menagerie of unique hand carved wooden animals. The museum is only $1. Talk about cheap entertainment. And, if your kids are anything like mine, they will ride that carousel 3 times!
